Burning cow?

I saw this wonderful film and then read that there was a shot of a burning cow, I believe during the tatar attack on Vladimir. I missed this shot and would be grateful for a screencap of it, if anyone can provide one. Thanks.

No worries: I've actually been able to find the image for myself thru a google image search.

Wow, passing your free time searching for pictures of animals getting tortured, I'm sure your parents are so proud of you, the epitome of civilization.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

reply

Actually, it isn´t the cow itself that´s on fire, it´s merely its engines suffering a compressor stall & flameout.

Civilization is vastly overrated, Rena. It is unnatural.

I love animals too, but they understand what's up...and better than you do.

If these things truly disturb you this badly, then the cold dark future rapidly approaching us will likely make you wish you were aborted.

yeah he's watching burning cows, and you're offending his parents, and he's human. That's the epitome of the civilizations, arrogant man-haters and animal lovers.

I've seen this film three times but don't remember the cow on fire shot either. Is it on the longer Criterion version?

reply

Yes, It is definetely in the Criterion version.

I was unlucky enough to come across different cuts of this film, but luckily after I had seen the real director's cut. It even had different voice-overs. The Criterion version is the best way to go. It's how the film was meant to be seen.

reply

It's not in my 183 min copy either. Seems to be cut in certain releases. Wonder why this is not noted on the Alternate Versions page.

Not on the 183 minute cut available in the UK (may have been censored by the BBFC - they also cut the part the horse is speared)
