Not a bad film at all - despite some technical and historical glitches.
Good performances, good editing and good location shooting.

Anyone notice the not accidental musical cues to Malcolm Arnold's score to "Bridge on the River Kwai" as intrepreted here by Richard LaSalle?
There are a few cues as well from Bernard Herrmann's score to "The Naked and the Dead".

I'm 15min into the movie (1st viewing) and I had the same exact thought. Also sounds a lot like the Richard Rodgers score for Victory at Sea documentary series.
