Incidental music - borrowed by Star Trek?

I was just watching this and was struck by how the incidental music seemed so similar to the incidental music used in Star Trek the original series. I was expecting William Shatner to turn up any minute! They were made about the same time and the "Scottish" sea captain was a semi-regular on the first season of Trek. That I even noticed this and then posted about it has worried me. Maybe I need to revisit my therapist!

Actually it is a lot more likely that the soundtrack was borrowed by Star Trek. Truthfully I'm sure you could watch earlier movies and probably hear similar music. Star Trek debuted in Sept. of 1966 while this film was probably made closer to 1965.

The Sea captain was played by Roger C. Carmel WHO played "Harry" (Harcourt Fenton) Mudd in two episodes (seasons 1 & 2) of Star Trek TOS. Both episodes were comedic in nature and were very well rated (but below "Trouble with Tribbles'.

He also played the Spokesperson for Naugles in the 80s.
