"Alfie" = First installment of Nolan Batman series?

I thought the bloke in this movie looked awfully familiar. Then it hit me. Of course! His name is Alfred!

Also the first name of Batman's butler! I compared pictures, and while the face in the Batman films was quite a bit older, it was unmistakeably the same person.

Perhaps Alfie, dejected by events, moved to the United States and became a butler for the Wayne family, eventually becoming Batman's confidante.

There's no indication that Batman's butler has a wife or girlfriend, so maybe he decided that with his tendencies it was better to stay away from women altogether.

He does seem to have become a much wiser person. Perhaps that is the true message of the Batman series - anyone can change themselves for the better (or worse).
