Another stinker from the Mill Creek 50 pack

I'm really glad this box set only cost me $25 cuz this movie really isn't worth much more then 50 cents. When I first turned it on, I noticed that the image on part of the screen would shift while the rest of the image remained still. It was probably because of a lousy print and really cheap DVD transfer.
This movie gives the look and feel of something from the 40's (this is not a good thing) thanks to the lack of lighting and frequent thunderstorms.
The story was fairly interesting but it suffered from way too much dialog and characters explaining the story. This seemed to make it slow moving to allow the actors time to read all their lines.
Oh well, I guess I can't complain too much for 50 cents, and besides, it gave me something to watch when there was nothing worth watching on T.V.

You're nuts! This movie is AWESOME!!! You're right about the quality though. Its horrendous. But the atmosphere, story and everything else is great - and of course it stars the legendary Barbara Steele! Many people enjoy these Gothic horrors from the 60's (usually imported from Europe) - but I guess you are not one of them

50 movies crammed into probably 3-4 discs insn't helping. To stuff 50 movies into so few discs results in godawful compression artifacts. Shout Factory put 4 movies on one disc and that doesn't look too awful but anymore than that and it would probably be unwatchable. This movie is slow and could have been better but see a decent copy of it uncut and you may like it a bit better.

Those 50 packs are usually on 12 discs, so it's not as bad as you think. Still not great, and probably intolerable to the spoiled-by-blu-ray hipsters (who, ironically, are still fine with streaming things even though that's really inferior and looks like crap a lot of the time), but for those of us raised on VHS and bootlegs, the 50 packs are a good deal.

Doesn't stop me from buying upgrades when they put them out, though, which is one reason I bought the Severin blu-ray of this.

I think the movie is quite average. Not the best I've ever seen by any means but still not too bad. Barbara Steele was the highlight but she didn't get quite enough screentime fpr my liking.
