Looking for a good copy....

Does anyone know where you can find a good transfer/version of this film? All the copies on Amazon say they are craptacular at best.

Any info would appreciated. Thanks

The DVD available from Sinister Cinema is quite good quality, but it does have have a couple of sound glitches and at least one jump in continuity - possibly a censorship cut.
The best transfer appears to be the U.K. Stablecane VHS version which came out during the late '80s under the title of "Cemetery Of The Living Dead". Stablecane also issued very good quality VHS tapes of "Crypt Of Horror" and "Terror Of Dr. Hichcock". However, these would all be PAL format and also hard to find.

Glad to hear the SinCin transfer is good, as several reviews on Amazon say the Alpha Video one is crap. I think I'll hold out for the SinCin DVD, even though the Alpha one is currently on sale for $4.

Note that a DVD-R is also available from Something Weird Video for $10. One of the reviews here states that the transfer is good.

I too am trying to get my hands on a good copy of this film. The ones from Alpha, Mill Creek, and Sinister Cinema all seem to be from the same ugly print. Its blurry garbled and the "widescreen" image moves up and down throughout the movie, so you can't even zoom in on your widescreen TV. I've heard the Something Weird print is supposed to be really good (although it is about 10 minutes shorter than the Alpha video version) - there are so many different edits of this movie, its insane, I wish someone would release a decent copy of it - sooner or later, I think they will as Barbara Steele is still a fairly popular cult actress. If anyone out there has the Something Weird DVDR of this please write a review. Thanks.

There's a somewhat better version of this movie under the title Cemetery of the Living Dead. It's supposed to be more uncut than the American version (Terror-Creatures from the Grave). You can watch it here: http://stagevu.com/video/wzupuhfqtxri

The Something Weird Video copy is by far the cleanest, sharpest transfer available at the moment. However, there is a continuity jump about 17 mins into the film and several scenes are missing. If you supplement the SWV version with these scenes from the Sinister Cinema version you can put together a satisfying version.

I'm sure you know by now, but the best copy is the Severin Blu-ray which contains digital transfers of Terror-Creatures along with Nightmare Castle and Castle of Blood. Although the quality is mostly clear, there are a few slight crackles and spots of light, and later, toward the film's center, there are several glitches where it looks like they were repeated somehow by the digital transfer. Deleted scenes are included as well as interviews, trailers and short films on the making of these.
