Ultraman is brutal!

I love the show, but I am struck by how brutal Ultraman could be. He was without mercy in killing monsters. He destroyed the spaceship with all the aliens in it in episode 2 I believe, a mass genocide. In the show, any creature ugly is also evil and needs to be destroyed. Plus they sometimes showed blood.
And what of all the property damage?

Some of the later shows were even more brutal. I saw a clip of a monster being cut in half

They're MONSTERS! Their object is to smash tiny model Japanese buildings to smithereens and to Destroy All Mankind. I do not feel sorry for the monsters.

Except perhaps for Gabadon, the drawing come to life. A schoolboy draws some graffiti, strange cosmic rays bring the drawing to life, all the monster wants to do is sleep, and then it disappears at night, when the source of the cosmic rays passes beyond the horizon. I just watched that episode last night, and it struck me how when the team debates how to deal with the monster, Ito's idea is the best--wait till nightfall and erase the drawing. But Arashi belittles the idea, and Captain Mura seems bent on throwing a lot of ordnance at the monster. Of course, had they implemented Ito's idea, there would have been no story. But that's about the only monster who wasn't really bothering anyone.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.

I agree, Ito's idea made sense and Captain Mura shot it down for no logical reason.
Ultraman showed no mercy to Gabadon and to Seabozo the skeleton monster.

You should see UltraSeven. Seven once slit a monster's throat, resulting in its blood gushing all over his face.
