did they stop Underdog because of WC's death?

Anyone know if the reason they stopped making Underdog was because Wally Cox died? (just curious)

reply

no, WC died a few years after the series was cancelled. It was cancelled unfortunately due to (at the time) poor ratings.

I was born in the 60's and was an "Underdog" fan. The word on the playground (no kidding) was that being that Underdog used a "power pill" kept in his ring to get his strength, kids were taking "power pills" that they found in the medicine cabinet in hopes to get stronger and become a super-hero. We, at my school, used M&M's...some kids did not...and in the 60's??? Well, the rumor I heard was that they took it off the air to keep kids from robbing mom and dad's medicine cabinets, legit or not. It was thought it was dangerous for kids. (Personally, I preferred the M&M's and never went that direction, but the censors were leary.) Yes, Wally Cox died much later, although too early.
