Whatever happened to Doug and Tony?

I'm pretty sure they were retrieved eventually. It would be pretty retarded if they weren't, considering the fact that in the later episodes, the Time Tunnel had advanced to the stage where it could do all kinds of *beep* (transporting multiple individuals to different time periods simultaneously, sending and retrieving all sorts of equipment, to name a few things)...plus in the last ep, they were in 1978 (a mere ten years away from the present)...conditions for retrieval were just perfect.
