I seem to remember a episode of the time tunnel where they go to london to stop guy fawkes, but cannot find any reference to it. did it exist?

No, that must have been another show. There were two Time Tunnel episodes set in England, one about King Arthur and the other involving Robin Hood and the Magna Carta.
