Jerry

I love the character "Jerry"! He's like this sad sack who's clearly a bit disrespected by his peers and bosses (esp. Gen. Kirk!). Every once in a while he screws up and it's like "Oh come ON, Jerry!" (Kind of a precursor to Jerry/Terry/Larry on Parks & Rec!)...Then, oddly enough, he (Sam Groom) gets the starring role in Irwin Allen's kind-of-similar 1976 "Time Travelers" pilot...

I liked Jerry, too. I wish he had been in more episodes. (He was only in episodes 3, 4, 6, 11 & 14 – he also appeared in episode 2 if you count them using footage from episode #4.) Despite the occasional outbursts from Kirk, Jerry was pretty smart. He figured out the isolation technique that saved Tony and Doug in “Crack of Doom” and he was ultimately right about the comet’s influence on the Tunnel in “End of the World”, despite Kirk’s annoyed dismissal of his theory. He’s the kind of guy I’d like to have on my team. When I did some TIME TUNNEL fan fiction, I always included Jerry.

I’ve enjoyed watching Sam Groom in other shows over the years, including THE TIME TRAVELLERS and POLICE SURGEON. He comes off as a genuinely good guy.
