The Ancient Greeks Spoke English?

In Revenge of the Gods, The Greeks spoke in English. Thought that was funny.

Other things you'll find funny:

In The Ten Commandments, ancient Egyptians and Hebrews spoke English.

In Ben-Hur, ancient Romans spoke English.

In The Sound of Music, everyone in Austria spoke English.

In Les Miserables, everyone in France spoke English.

In Dr. Zhivago, everyone in Russia spoke English.

In The Phantom of the Opera (2004), everyone spoke English in Paris with a British or American accent, except for Mme. Giry, the only cast member with a French accent.

Of course they all spoke English! Germans don't like to subtitle and there everyone tends to speak German.

If I'm not mistaken, Doctor Who avoided addressing this for several decades. They eventually said it was because the Tardis translates native speech. Let's assume the Time Tunnel does the same.

Though, that wouldn't explain why people's lips would still match what they're saying. If you start giving people explanations, they start nitpicking all the more.

If you'd watched IT'S ABOUT TIME, you'd know that cavemen spoke English over a million years ago. Obviously, English has been around a long time. 

Was this your first time watching a show or movie about time travel?
