Three episodes before the final refers to Don's bachelor party. And the final episode must have been filled with flashbacks. But no mention is made of a wedding in any of the episode descriptions. ? ?

It seems strange that they didn't, I remember that the Andy Griffith show ended with a wedding. But, it would have been an episode that wouldn't have lent itself to syndication if it was run out of order obviously.

Ms. Thomas ( who was also a co-producer of the show) felt that it was important to show the audience ( especially women and young girls) that marriage did not have to be the only happy ending for a woman. Not only did Ann Marie and Donald not get married, they never even SLEPT together during their 5 year relationship!

So people can decide for themselves whether the characters got married. I always assumed they did. Getting married doesn't have to end a woman's career. These days, a lot of couples find that financially it's important for both people to be bringing home a paycheck!
