She was not particularly skinny - we've just become used to people being fat.
Look at Ted Bessell, or Bernie Kopell - they're also pretty trim. And again, not skinny for the time - just normal looking.
Back then, people didn't go around suckling waste basket-sized servings of high-fructose corn syrup. Unlike today.

Me too! That was my favorite show growing up, and I started watching it when I was 3 years old until I was about 7 in 1971. I waited for the episode for her to get married, but it never happened. I remember my mother coming home with a "That Gir" hairstyle just like Marlos. I thought that was the greatest thing ever!
