Both men very athletic, muscular and strong. Expert in unarmed combat, making quick decisions under pressure, tactics and the power to control animals. Don't know which one would come out on top ? Nothing init but both are great.

shareWeissmuller....of course. Never saw much of Mike Henry as Tarzan, but I was about 8 when Ron Ely version came on TV.
My dad and I never thought this Ely guy would be worth a darn, but we were both wrong. Now as an aging boomer seeing him is literally awesome.
Carol Burnett gets Honorable mention as Tarzan too. 2nd best Tarzan call next to Weissmuller.
I agree that looking at Ron Ely playing Tarzan all this time later, he does now look very good as Tarzan and gives a very credible performance. Will rank him 2nd after Weissmuller in the Tarzan role.
Actually, while he doesn't count for this contest as he never officially played Tarzan, I also give high marks to Johnny Sheffield starring in the many Bomba, the Jungle Boy movies. Essentially played the Tarzan role as the Bomba character.
I'll have to check out Weissmuller's version, as I've only ever seen the t.v. series with Ron Ely. I really should know more about Tarzan than I do, especially considering the fact that I grew up in Tarzana - i.e. a suburb that was literally named after the character. We even have all kinds of Tarzan memorabilia in our local post office.
shareThanks for replies. Mike Henry should have been in the series but due to circumstances (explained in Mike Henry info) he declined. The Henry movies are more or less like the series and the two are very similar . Even Padilla Jr is with Henry.
shareClint Walker (Cheyenne). He was born to play Tarzan, and Hollywood stupidly missed out on it. Mike Henry is my least favorite movie Tarzan. Walker would have been great. After Gordon Scott it should have been Walker, not Henry.
