I SAW T.H.E. CAT...

I saw the 'Pilot' for this series at a theater called the "Preview House," on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. This theater regularly held showings of pilots and movies when they wanted to get audience reactions prior to release. You watched while you held a corded controller in your hands, and turned a dial to indicate when you liked what was going on, or didn't like what was being shown. I got to see some good stuff, like this, and the Rockford Files, months before they were on television. I saw a few movies there, too; all for free, of course. The way you got to go there was that they sent out representatives to the parking lots of larger stores in the Los Angeles area, where they would approach people and asked if they could attend a showing, not telling them anything about what was to be shown. They would reiterate, "You're sure you can make it, right?"

I really liked this series. I was about 17 when it came out.
