Worst episode of this great, and best, series?

I loved and still love this iconic show, but there are some duds.

For me, although the bad choices are competitive, it's that one with the fucking hippies in space.

Yes it was the 60's, the lingo and styles(?), but hippies are so cringey and hypocritical. Many were posh little brats that needed a slap. Even George Harrison hated them.

I certainly don't think that TOS is the best Trek series, that's for sure!

"City on the Edge of Forever" is the best, as far as I'm concerned. The other best ones, in no particular order are "The Doomsday Machine," "Where No Man Has Gone Before," "The Menagerie," "The Galileo Seven," "Amok Time," "The Trouble with Tribbles," and "Day of the Dove."

The worst of the stinkers has to be "Spock's Brain," hands down; but other dishonorable mentions include "Catspaw," "Patterns of Force," "The Omega Glory," "A Private Little War," "And the Children Shall Lead," "Spectre of the Gun," "The Way to Eden," and "Bread and Circuses."

The preponderance of bad episodes in the last season is probably largely due to the influence of Fred Freiberger. In the seventies, he went over to England and had a similar effect on "Space: 1999."

Absolute worst: And the Children Shall Lead.

I’m curious why they casted a famous attorney, Melvin Belli, instead of a regular actor to play the main villain. Except maybe of course because lawyers are in general considered villains. :-)

1. The Man Trap
2. Mudd's Women
3. Operation: Annihilate!
4. A Piece of the Action
5. Patterns of Force
6. The Omega Glory
7. Spock's Brain
8. And the Children Shall Lead
9. Plato's Stepchildren
10. The Way to Eden

Getting the discussion back on track And The Children Shall Lead is the penultimate bad episode. Pop psychology solution at the end. "They're crying, Jim." Why are the kids even enticed in following an entity that looks like a 20th Century celebrity LA lawyer? Plot somewhat recycled from Charlie X. Spock's Brain while having serious issues in terms of being believable had interesting moments such as comparing cultures that existed in the Sigma Draconis system and discussing a social schism.

The Return of the Archons was a rare boring misfire from season one.
