Did Miramanee Really Die?

Just saw "The Paradise Syndrome" again for the umpteenth time and I always have trouble believing that Miramanee succumbed to her injuries. So she had a few rocks thrown at her! Kirk was being stoned a lot longer and it didn't seem to affect him at all.

Okay, he was a big "tough guy", lol, but really, with 23rd century medicine, McCoy could do absolutely NOTHING except to say that her injuries were "too severe"?

She could not be beamed aboard the Enterprise, given blood transfusions, maybe an artificial organ transplant?

Of course Kirk had to leave the planet. No way was he going to stay behind as Kirok and raise a family with Miramanee. The easiest solution was to have her die.

I read a fan fiction one time that suggested that McCoy only told Kirk that Miramanee was dying. He slipped her some sort of "neural-paralyzer" which "simulated death" like the one he gave to Kirk in "Amok Time". That was Kirk could leave the planet with a clear conscience.

Then McCoy told the tribe that "Kirok" had to return to the strange lodge in the sky. Miramanee would have been sad. But she knew her chief had to leave.

I just don't see how her injuries were fatal!

That would create a major rift between Kirk and McCoy.

Kirk has built up a strong tolerance to getting stoned ever since those space hippies were on board.

Just weak writing.

It should have been written where she was killed by the stoning, not injured to the point where she could carry on a lucid conversation with Kirk for several minutes.

So it came down to swapping the tender good-bye scene with Miramanee and Kirk with a more logical scene of Miramanee out and out killed by the stoning.

If I wrote that scene, I would have had McCoy whisper to Kirk that her neck was broken (that's why she was in no pain) and that there was nothing he could do to save her.
