Seasons 2 and 3

Will seasons two and three ever be released on DVD?

reply

I hope so. At least you get to see more filmation drawn Superman in The new DC Super Heroes: The Filmation Adventures DVD which has all of the "guest" segments from The Superman/Aquaman Hour. And the character lives on in SuperFriends.

Ok, geniuses, here's the rub: there was one season (and ONLY one season) of this show. I was born in '66 (the year the series debuted on Saturday mornings) and I know this. The only thing really missing here are the Krypto the Superdog and Superboy episodes that were sandwiched in-between the Superman stories.
Let's TRY to use some common sense here, ok?

reply

No, that's actually incorrect. There were two more seasons of Superman that were not on the DVD release. I've done my research. The first 36 episodes on the DVD are not the only ones. The following episodes aired on the Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure along with the reruns.

A.P.E. Strikes Again, The Lethal Lightning Bug, The Prankster, The Saboteurs, The Wisp of Wickedness, Superman Meets His Match, Night of the Octopod, Brainiac's Bubbles, War of the Bee Battalion, The Toyman's Super Toy, The Cage of Glass, The Atomic Superman, Luthor's Loco Looking Glass, The Warlock's Revenge, Halyah of the Himalayas, and Luthor's Fatal Fireworks.

Three of those episodes, the Prankster, Toyman's Super Toy, and Luthor's Fatal Fireworks were on the Super Powers Superman VHS tape back in 1985.

The last 8 Superman episodes aired on the Batman/Superman Hour and all 8 episodes were 2 parters. Plus, the animation style had changed to resemble the animation style of the Batman cartoons.

Luthor's Lethal Laser 1& 2, Can a Luthor Change His Spots 1 & 2,
Team of Terror 1 & 2, Rain of Iron 1 & 2, The Mysterious Mr. Mist 1 & 2
Luminians on the Loose 1 & 2, Ghost of Kilbane Castle 1 & 2, and the
Japanese Sandman 1 & 2.
Out of those, only Luminians On the Loose was on the Super Powers Superman VHS Tape in 1985 and was edited to look like a single episode.

So over a total of 3 seasons, there are 60 episodes, or if you count parts one and two of the last 8 episodes separately, there are 68 episodes of Superman by Filmation. If there had been one season, maybe all 68 episodes would have been released together.
Cheers.

THANK YOU!
I hate it when overly opinionated morons jump on trying to act like they know what's up.
You are very well informed. Kudos to you.
I hope that at some point in the near future, the REST of the 60s Superman cartoon is released on DVD. As well as the Superboy episodes. And the 60s Batman cartoon.
I've got the first (and so far ONLY) release of the 60s Superman, I've got the DC Super Heroes collection, and I've got Aquaman.

I hope they release the rest soon! I'll happily buy them.

The New Adventures Of Superman seasons 2 and 3 is available for pre-order now and will be released on June 3, 2014! I just hope the Superboy segments will also be included on this upcoming 2-disc DVD set.

Nope. Warner isn't paying the Siegel's royalties, if they can get away with it.

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!
