prettiest actress

On Youtube, many fans have commented on how comely many of the female co-stars were. Which actress do you think was the prettiest and from which episode. The actress that protrayed the rich girl Pete liked in "One Man Shy" had striking features, and the girl whose family ran the circus the Monkees saved in "Monkees at the Circus" was pretty too.

Julie Newmar was the cat's pajamas. (Sorry, couldn't resist). I don't know the name of the episode but they met her in a laundry mat and each one fell for the lucky girl. The scene where she danced with Micky was really nice. She was obviously a dancer, and he was improvising, but that was part of the charm.

Years ago on Orpah, both Julie and Davy were guests. I believe he stated he briefly dated Julie, I could be wrong. I do recall him joking about their height difference.

The title of that episode was The Monkees Get Out More Stains. Not a very well written episode, but if the local laundromat were run by a girl like that, I'd be spending a lot of time there too, asking for "soap...soap...soap" even if I owned a washer and dryer!
Now, naturally, I'm talking about any time before 1998, when I met my beautiful wife to whom I'm still happily married. Just wanted to make that clear. Haha.

The girl in "Monkee see, Monkee die", Stacey Gregg, is very cute and Julie Newmar is gorgeous, of course :-)

The Great Mendrek's daughter in "The Monkee's Paw" is extremely pretty and she looks really familiar. I did a search here on IMDB of her name, though, and she only appeared in about three tiny roles in the '60s, well before my time. She must remind me of some other famous person.

So was the girl that married the shy prince in "The Prince and The Pauper".

reply

That's Heather North. She played Daphne in Scooby Doo.

Is Cynthis Hull Hispanic or partially Hispanic, she looked it. Maybe she is Italian.

Deana Martin was cute in the "Some Like It Lukewarm" episode when she wasn't dressed up like a man. She is a daughter of the late Dean Martin and she dated Davy.

What was the name of the actress that protrayed the debutante Peter liked? He stole her picture. I think the episode was Man Too Shy or something like that. She wore some cool outfits.

reply

Lisa James was the actress' name. Her kindness toward Peter made her even more appealing.

reply

Yeah is was nice to see someone get the girl besides Davy! Her bf Rodney was annoying! I read Lisa's bio on this website, not much there but it seems she stopped acting in the 80's.

I think the girl who played Fern in Too Many Girls was super cute.

Fern is played by Kelly Jean Peters. I must say I was surprised by her bikini scene because I recalled her only from "Little Big Man". I kept thinking she looked familiar, so I looked her up on IMDb; I didn't hit that "aha!" moment till I saw "LBM", in which she was the hysterical Swedish girl who undergoes a transformation after her abduction.

Rita/Reta Shaw I recognized instantly, having seen her in so many episodes and movies, especially the TV series "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir". (Yes, I'm that old!)

I am enjoying the series (on Family) so much, having been a faithful viewer in my teen years. Though we didn't have any money to spare, our father bought the first Monkees' album for my younger sister and I. We played it every morning as we got ready to go to school; Mom and Dad already were at their jobs, so we weren't driving them crazy. Actually, they like ALL of the music we loved! Yes, they were wonderful parents, a lot of fun though having set rules.

Later, I managed to buy more albums (on vinyl, of course) though I don't think I have a complete set.

Now in old age and severe ill-health, the episodes make me smile, laugh, sometimes sing along, and actually hurt a little less. The guys were and remain adorable=} No wonder we had such crushes!

The actress who wanted to marry Davy in the "Everywhere a Sheik" episode, she was cute. I think her character's name was Collette?

reply

That is Donna Loren, she and Davy dated in RL too. She still speaks fondly of him. She is multi talented, she sings, acts, and has a fashion company. She made that skirt herself that was part of her Middle Eastern outfit.

Venita Wolf, Brenda in "I was a 99 Pound Weakling."

reply

I knew a woman like Brenda back in the '90s. Yeah, '90s.

Bonnie Dewberry (Monkees In Texas)was a doll, just a really bad actress (hence the "For Emmy Consideration" joke). I also liked Kathy Wakefield, who played the Mayor's secretary in Monkee Mayor.

I'll give Arlene Martel some love.
