IAT Swag

Growing up in the 1960's, I recall one of my siblings having an It's About Time metal lunchbox, with the mandatory glass thermos that would eventually shatter. And I recall saying "it's about time, it's about space, I'm going to slap you in the face". At that time, I could not have been more than five years old, so how did a show lasting only one season get kids to buy their merchandise, and why do I still recall those modified lyrics nearly fifty years later? I don.'to recall ever actually watching the show when it was on network television, but I remember those items. Of course, The Munsters and Car 54 only ran two years each, and I have total recall watching them as a youngster.

I have no memory of ever seeing IAT until MeTV aired the episodes. But my sister (who is older) did see the original Series and used to sing the song.

I think the issue is that it was only 1 season. Back then they made more episodes per season, but 26 episodes was still not enough for a successful syndication package. But two seasons comprising a total of 52 episodes may have been the threshold. So the Munsters and Car 54 ran endlessly in syndication. That may be why you have memories of seeing them.
