MRS.Beasley

Anyone out there own a Mrs. Beasley doll? I have one that is close to 40 years old now. she is tucked away in a closet. one of the only toys I have from my childhood. Her glasses are gone and she cannot talk anymore.{ the only thing I remember her saying is in an old lady voice "would you like to try on my glasses?} I watched this show when I was a small kid about Buffy's age. Just had to have a Mrs. Beasley because Buffy had one. Glad to see it is out on DVD now.

I never wanted a Mrs Beasley doll(I thought it was so ugly) & preferred blue eyed blonde dolls, & the "Dawn Dolls" - remember those? But I used to watch the show faithfully. My mother named my brother Jody after the character in the show.
So sad what happened to Anissa Jones who played Buffy she died so young (in her teens) from a drug overdose.
Watching the show you would never guess such a thing would happen to such a sweet little girl.
Such a shame!

I never had a Dawn doll. I had all kinds way back in the 60s. Of course the Barbie dolls and friends, Chatty Cathy, A Christy doll whose hair grew.Little Kiddles, I guess I wanted a Mrs.Beasley back then because i was a fan of the show and she was different than any doll I had. It was very sad what happened to Anissa Jones. she was about my age and I had no idea what she went through after Family Affair. She was such an adorable child too bad she had such a hard life.

My doll of choice was G.I. Joe. He said things like, "I'm gonna kick your commie assss!!"

And he didn't wear glasses!

I had a Mrs. Beasley doll when I was young. I can't believe I had one as we were extremely poor and barely could afford food on the table. But I can remember dragging that doll all over the place for years and years. Even when I was older, I kept that doll on my dresser. My sister had a baby when I was 12 years old and when he got older, my mom gave him the doll. He tore up the doll and I never saw Mrs. Beasley again. :-( I guess I had told my kids this story a few times because this year on Mother's Day, my oldest son gave me a copy of the first season of Family Affair along with a Mrs. Beasley doll. :-) It's not a new doll, but it looks just like the doll I had when I was little. Now Mrs. Beasley sits on my couch and I can watch Buffy & Jody whenever I want. God sent me some wonderful children and it's nice to know that they actually "listen" to my stories of when I was little. :-)

that was a nice thing for your kids to do. They must have had to do some looking to find a Mrs. Beasley. I just bought the first season of Family Affair. got a good price at Sam's. I was around Buffy and Jody's Age when Family Affair was first on. Guess I felt a bit nostalgic.

There is a guy in southwestern Va near Bristol Tn that owns a antique shop that as of last year had two or three Mrs. Beasley dolls. He got the from his younger sisters when they grew up and for some reason they gave them to him when he started his business 40 years ago. When I last saw them they were all in the front windows. There were some Kitty Karry-all dolls too from the Brady Bunch

Let God be God in your life

Don't know if it's true but, I heard one time that Chucky watches reruns of Family Affair and lusts after Mrs. Beasley. Anyone know if that's true?

reply

I liked Kitty Karry All (Cindy's Doll from the Brady Bunch) she's so, so, cute.

The doll was re-issued about 8 years ago. Cheryl Ladd recorded the voice.

There are tons of them on eBay.

I too remember seeing an ad featuring Cheryl Ladd promoting a new version of the
"Mrs. Beasley" doll. How nice that a whole new generation can have one of these
dolls (and watch the series on remastered DVD!)

I had a Mrs. Beasley doll back in the day when show first aired but unfortunately no longer have her. I don't even recall what happened to my Mrs. Beasley. If I only knew then what I know now I would have made sure I stashed her away. I also had a metal Family Affair lunchbox I sure wish I still had, too!

i had a Mrs. Beasley I got at a yard sale in mint condition. I had her for years.
She sat on my dresser. But dumb me was dusting one day and took her off and my accident left her on the floor. Well I had just got 2 puppies and I guess you can all figure out what happened. Poor think spread out all over the house.

And yes the dogs are still alive. LOL

I have a Mrs. Bealey doll. She is put away safely with a few other pieces of memorabilia. She doesn't talk and is also missing her glasses and apron. I used to watch A Family Affair as a kid...I loved it. I even won a Buffy look-a-like contest. My Mom still has my portrait from the contest hanging in her dining room. So needless to say I was a big fan....I didn't realize it was on DVD, I will have to get copies.

I didn't have Mrs. Beasley but I do still have my Buffy doll from when I was a kid. She doesn't talk anymore but she is still in good shape. I took great care of my toys which is a good thing since I collect them. ; )
