Adam West was once offered the role of James Bond. He turned it down thinking a Brit would do a better job.

he would have been more Roger Moore than Roger but without the panache.

Seriously, Adam would have been a moron to turn that job down .

I had heard that he was being considered for the role but the producers decided it would be better to go with a British actor.
