music

I have not seen the series for 35 years but I remember liking the music very much. (Edwin Astley) I would like to obtain the main title theme somewhere.

Wish I could help you Thunderman. I like it alot too; but know of NO recording
of it commercially available or otherwise. If you ever discover one, please let me know-I'll do the same for you. Thanks.

Is this it?

And here's another Astley classic, Dangerman: http://www.danger-man.co.uk/mp3s/astley .mp3

And The Persuaders (John Barrie): http://pumamouse.com/TVpersuaders.mp3

And can you remember what this was from? http://www.crc.paragould.ar.us/~adam/fab/PR/avenuesandalleyways.mp3

Let me know if the first one is wrong (you might have to cut and paste the url into your browser to make it work)...

First tune is not from The Baron TV series and the last tune 'Avenues and Alleyways' is from Gerry Anderson's The Protectors (sung by Tony Christie).

you can see/hear the series intro at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP_l6dnoYlM

when this series first aired i was 6yrs old and it remains my earliest, meaningful, musical memory. something about those horns - pah-pah-pah paaah-paaah-paaah-paaah...

Theme is included on "This Is... Cult Fiction Royale", a double CD set from the UK.

reply

Your'e correct on the above! This double CD set is great I have one; copies can change hands for small fortunes these days! Very good sound(s) with 100% original themes.

reply

Small fortunes??
You have to be kidding?? I bought that for less than £10 years ago, and I'm fairly sure it's not deleted or anything.
Also, for a really catchy tv theme, what about "The Adventurer", starring Gene Barry and music by John Barry?

reply

Deleted for sure; But still very hard to get Amazon sellers? "Adventurer" yes it's good also.
Fireball XL5 has ascending turbo-rocket noise as the prologue! All great stuff. Best.
