I LOVE this short story, and being a film maker, ever since reading it I have been obsessed with the idea of turning it into a short film. Little did i know that one, an aparently well done one, starring none other than the man himself, had already been made. I have GOT to see this! where the hell did you people see this! I MUST KNOW!

shareIt's now available in a special boxed 2 disk version from Amazon.co.jp. The price is about $50.00 after the discount and you will need a region free dvd player if you don't already have one. It's a Japanese DVD and so it is a Region 2 disk. (The U.S. is region 1.) The picture quality is excellent and it includes both English subtitled and French subtitled versions. There is also a substantial documentary on the making of the film (in Japanese with no English subtitles) on the second disk.

Or, you (and others) can check with your local university library, which may have it, or may be able to ILL it for you if you have such privileges. Or, failing that, your local city library may have ILL, and the cost might be minimal. That goes for a helluva lot of great films that are now available to people who otherwise wouldn't see them and/or couldn't afford them.
shareI know you posted this two years ago, but there's a new Criterion Collection DVD coming out in June of not only "Patriotism", but also Paul Schrader's "Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters". The "Patriotism" disc looks amazing!
