Edited opening scene on US DVD?

I recall that in the opening scene that Anna Fassbender (Peter Sellers character, Dr. Fritz Fassbender's wife) was in costume for Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries," helmet with horns and all. But in the opening scene of the US DVD (released in June, 2005) she has no helmet or horns on, only blond hair.
Is it my, admittedly, faulty memory or was the scene edited for some strange reason?
