I could only watch about half of this. *shakes with amazment* O'toole looks pretty but it's just too over the top it's stupid. Imho.
shareO'Toole has been in the spotlight just recently of course, and he may look like a ghost, but he still makes a good role model for the rolling around drunk life. Nice to see him out and about.
shareI thought was was really funny when I saw it as a kid on TV 35 years ago. Now
it just seems tedious and boring; the "farce" scene near the end about the only
mildly amusing part. I suppose at the time it was risque but now it just looks pathetic.
This film should be a case study of what happens when directors don't have a firm hand: hammy and overindulgent acting by every actor involved, in a chaotic story, with dialogue that's supposed to sound "improvised", but ends up being only full of unfunny non-sequiturs. Thank gd that we have seen better work by all of them, so we need not judge them by this mess.
