He is the best chicken (rooster) in movie history! He is a good detective and also a scuba diver. I was so glad he was ok in the end! Great sidekick.

I just watched this for the first time and I agree, Herbert rocks! Glad he made it through to the end.

I thought that the chicken character was an odd addition to the plot. But, the scene where Vincent Price said that he had only eaten fish for a long time and had not eaten beef, pork, or chicken from being underground and then he saw the chicken pop out of the basket was a riot!

Herbert faired much better than Gertrude the Duck from Journey to the Center of the Earth. I was a little worried for her when the Captain spotted her.

"Chicken!"

I liked Herbert. I'm glad he made it safely through to the end of the film. I wasn't so bothered about the others.

I just clipped all Herbert's scenes with David Tomlinson. They were the best!
