I was only 7 yrs old at the time. We lived in an Army Barracks near Folkestone.
It was a bit run down in parts and they filmed some scenes for War Games there.
I remember it really well all these years later.
I never did get to see the film though!
It is available on youtube and google video just be careful because there is a version where the sound is not synched properly. I did find a full version w/ French subs but I seem to not have bookmarked it

That must have been at Shorncliffe where I was stationed earlier with 10 company RAMC. However the opening scene with the police motorcyclist was filmed in The Brook, Chatham and I was on my scooter overtaking the Maidstone & District bus. The policeman then stopped outside Chatham Town Hall and proceeded inside. Tony Gillingham dragged up in the Medway Towns.
