I'm Surprised

I'm surprised there isn't anyone on these boards asserting how much better this is than Kubrick's version, that we just "don't understand it". I mean, if you ever compare the IMDb pages of an original and a remake, someone is always saying how superior the original is to the remake. Granted, in some cases it's very true, but this is just the first time I haven't seen it.

I saw this in the 80s at a film festival where Ondine was the guest speaker. I rather liked it, and Edie Sedgewick, whose biography I'd just read, was in it, so I wanted to see it. She sits on a trunk, smokes, looks at porn and steals the picture. It's a lot of fun. I agree, I think it's better than the Kubrick, which is more stylized and had a higher budget, but isn't as much fun.

This is probably because this film is so utterly bad that virtually no one in the world would say it was better than anything at all, much less a revered classic like A Clockwork Orange.
