Vincent Price does well marrying the lovely Lady

Vincent's 53 and Elizabeth Shepherd was only 28. No mention is made that he is old enough to be her father and is in fact, 12 years older than the guy who plays Elizabeth's father in the movie.

It is quite clear that the role was supposed to be played by a younger man but:

* Price was AIP's big star and had to play the lead in a Poe horror

* he is made up to look a bit younger (no moustache, dyed hair)

reply

They should have used Terence Stamp.

In many of his movies, especially the Poe-inspired Corman ones, Vincent Price was very often paired with younger women. The fact that he often looked quite youthful was a help, but still...this, The Oblong Box, The Raven, The Haunted Castle, The Pit And The Pendulum, Madhouse...all of them had Vincent's character married to/widowed by/involved with a much younger woman. Vincent, you SEX GOD!!!

(Although with THOSE eyes and THAT voice...who could blame the women?)

reply

I'm pretty sure a lot of young girls would have hooked up with Vincent Price long after he was 53.
