The Vargas Character and Alberto from Scarface

Does anyone think that Vargas might have influenced the Alberto character from Scarface? They are both similar in appearance and quiet but menacingly loyal to their bosses. There is also a scene in both films in which the main characters are being introduced to Vargas/Alberto for the second time resulting in sarcastic responses from both Connery and Pacino?
