The most hilarious scene in the movie

is bond on the out of control stretcher. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. man that had me near balling with laughter, the way the camera goes back and force in fact motion, man that was the funniest thing ever! did the guy really expect to kill bond on that thing?

Realism, Remakes and Unnecessary Sequels are ruining movies!

Not to mention that more than any other person on the planet James Bond is fairly used to that motion, laying flat, shagging away back and forth. He was probably enjoying himself until that damn lady came and shut it off. Heck he even used it as foreplay, since only seconds after the lady got him out of the machine, he chose to bang her in the shower.

I still think the funniest part is when Felix says "On you, EVERYTHING looks good". I'm still trying to figure out if he meant that Bond looks good wearing "everything at once" (in response to Bond's "AND the kitchen sink" line, in regards to his jet powered scuba back pack), or if he meant that no matter what Bond wears, he looks good.

reply

I have to admit, I thought that scene was kind of dumb.

reply

That was the WORST scene in the entire movie. Definitely not "bond-cool" or high-tech. It's so obvious the machine is not going that fast or anything and we know it's not going to kill him or break his back. He walks away like, hmm, well, that was weird. Definitely a cheesy and dorky scene.

reply

You just know Bond wanted to take Patricia on that machine... that is, before it took him.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

The funniest scene is when Bond and eye patch guy are fighting on the deck of the ship towards the end and take turns steering the wheel when they get the upper hand. With the film being sped up, you can see them approaching land quickly, then all of a sudden they spin the wheel wildly to swerve out of the way. It's pretty trippy to see these "special" effects.

reply

If it wasn't so overcranked it would actually be scary. Imagine you are strapped into a machine getting your spine stretched, possibly to the point it would snap your spine. It's no different than when Roger Moore was locked into the centrifuge.

reply

And of course the scene was straight out of the book.

I'm afraid silent film comedy has hardwired people to make the connection "overcranking = funny". See comments re. the climactic ending of "Rear Window".

where is the starter?

do you think he was 6 inches taller afterwards?

I am formerly known as HillieBoliday.....Member since May 2006:

He may not have been 6 inches taller.....but ole girl found out in the sauna about his "other 10 inches!!!

He is soooooooo sexy....who wouldn't want to bang him in the sauna?!!!!

"OOhhhooo....I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"

Watching it again now on Encore. The suana girl was really hot, but Domino is tops. The part where Bond pushes her into the steam room is classic 007. This is one of the best Bond films period.

Interesting. You're afraid of insects and women. Ladybugs must render you catatonic.

It was unintentionally funny, since they obviously sped up the film to show Bond on that machine being stretched out too fast. But as someone pointed out, he didn't seem to be too out of it, as he blackmailed the girl into the sauna. I think I would've needed a rest period, not to mention he would've probably been sore in real life after all that.

To me the funniest scene was Bond's terror while Fiona is driving. He really was out of his comfort zone there and looked like he would happily swap that car for more time being stretched. I can't remember exactly what he says but he insinuates that the car might take off with something like "So are you a frequent flyer in these parts?" while tearing through the countryside.
