Vulcan Underwater Scene Question

I would like to know how they did that scene with the Vulcan pilot having his oxygen hose cut under water.

Could not see anything that looked like SCUBA gear around him, or any other divers, even when the camera panned out.

Anybody know how this was done?

Thanks,

AJ.

From what I've read about the making of "Thunderball," they filmed most of the underwater scenes only about twenty feet below the surface.

I'm sure the actor playing the pilot wasn't actually strapped or secured in the mocked-up Vulcan cockpit, and there was a safety diver (or divers) just off-camera to feed him oxygen from their tank(s) for the scene. That's how Sean Connery and his stunt double were able to perform underwater while wearing the non-functioning "portable breathing device."

The actor was about to do the scene, and was given some money, and he said "Not enough", then went on about how many years he had language lessons, plastic surgery, and demanded more, so they decided to "cut their losses".

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

I believe the actor is Kevin McClory.
