The pre-credits sequence is pretty daft

Why would Jacques Bouvar attend his own 'funeral' in drag, pretending to be his own widow???

If he really did have a wife, why didn't she just attend instead?

And if he wasn't married, wouldn't his presence as the widow arouse suspicion?

The questions you raise are not answered in the movie, as far as I could tell. But, it's at least possible to imagine a scenario in which a person fakes their own death and them has to disguise their appearance in order to make the "death" seem plausible to outside observers, and/or the authorities.

reply

That's true but there's no need for him to attend his own funeral.

As with many things in Bond movies, I don't think one should try and attach too much logic or reason to it - it just makes for a fairly spectacular little standalone sequence, that's all.

Daft, but pretty cool.
