I want some of that caviar. It's mock. It's from Norway.

The conversation in the grocer's shop about the origin of the caviar strongly reminded me of the Rat Inspector episode of Fawlty Towers where Basil tells the health inspector that the veal is a Japo-Norwegian substitute and not up to scratch. I wonder if this inspired John Cleese.

When Leamus grabs the can of shrimp scampi, the drunken, physical delivery of his narrative to the Italian woman in the shop -- who voiced her approval of his selection -- is brilliantly hilarious: "Madam, I'll thank you not to insult the hot blood of Irish prawns taken from the bay of Dublin herself."

We never called lumpfish caviar 'mock'. But then again, we never called it 'caviar', either. Of course, Safeway never carried Beluga.
