ABC Version telecast last night

Did anyone else view the ABC telecast of Sound of Music on Dec. 18 ? Thankfully, it was not the sing-a-long version but the entire film from beginning to end was full of dirt, appearing as annoying white specks. Was anybody else annoyed by these? ABC must have paid a small bundle to air this and should have gotten a better copy.

I watched most of it - couldn't stay up for the whole thing. I didn't notice the specks. I guess had I seen them I would have just chalked it up to being an older film. I had forgotten about that sing-along version and am now thankful that this wasn't it!

No specks on my TV.

Yes, it was a terrible print of the film; murky colors and full of scratches (the white specks are scratches in the film)! I'm sure it's been digitally restored for the DVD and Blu-ray releases... I'm not sure why they can't air a better print.

And it has been done meticulously. The Blu-ray of this movie is stunning. With as inexpensive as good flat screen TVs and Blu-ray players are now, anybody who wants to see this movie should just get the BD and go this route. You won't be sorry. This is probably one of the best transfers ever from 70mm to high definition home video.

Just finished watching it again with my family for the umpeenth time. Brilliant as ever and still a wonderful film. Don't cheat yourself with some cheap TV print of it.
