Unintentionally Funny Scenes!

I remember back in grade school watching "Shenandoah" and it was a
very emotional, somber and powerful film of one family's reaction
to the reality of the American Civil War in their backyard. Now
in the scenes where James is murdered with a sword by confederate
scavengers who go on to assault and murder Ann (off camera) inside
of their home. Now as a young kid in grade school I found the
scene where James was killed to be quite shocking. And now as an
adult I must confess that:

1. The same scene where Patrick Wayne (James) is stabbed to death
with the sword by that southerner and the blade is thrust into
his belly area. LOL!!!

2. James' reaction of shock and being overwhelmed with excruciating
pain and then dying right on the spot next to the well is just
too darn funny to watch without me just LOL!!!

3. His assailant lets out a wicked laugh while killing James
and then watches his victim slump to the ground while dying.
I just wanted to keep LOL at these unintentionally hilarious
scenes in this movie! LOL!!!

Now you can call me sick and twisted though I have been called
much worse words before and I love this movie for just these
reasons I have mentioned! LOL, LMAO!!! Though seeing the son
of legendary John Wayne die in this movie is still a bit sad.
Even though his death was purely fictional.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, I just don't find that stuff funny. Movies have certainly evolved since the 1960s, and are a bit more subtle now, but I don't find those scenes you mentioned funny. I bet I'm a lot older than you are and more programmed to have respect for older films.
Did you laugh at 'Old Yeller???'

reply

I've seen the film many times from the 1960s to now, and I never thought they were funny.
You're funny, tho. :-)

I don't get it when people have to laugh at sad things. It must be a brain glitch.

Them laughing, not me not understanding it.

I just saw it tonight and found it the furthest thing from funny; on the contrary, it was sudden and shocking.
