Liz And Dickie Made Eleven (11) Movies, Together...

...most of them BAD! This one, "The Sandpiper," is an exception to the rule. I watched it, today (for the first time), on Turner Classic Movies, and I enjoyed it, thoroughly!! Rest In Peace, Liz and Dickie!!!

"You can't HANDLE the truth!" Jack Nicholson, "A Few Good Men."

Of the films they made together, i have seen Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf?, The VIP's, this one and Cleopatra. Wolf was a great film. I liked The VIP's very much, if not as much as Wolf. Great fun. Cleo got pasted for being so expensive, and of course the press had a field day with the adulterous affair between them, but as a film it's a good deal of fun, too.

I think I want to see more of them.

I first saw Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? more then 20 years ago and I watch it every few years. I get it from Netflix and I usually keep it for a few days and watch it more than once. (Which is very rare for me. I usually send movies back as soon as I see them the first time.)

I thought it was kind of ridiculous that I haven't seen any of the other Burton/Taylor movies, so I've been keeping an eye on the cable schedules and looking for more. So far I've seen Cleopatra (it has its moments; I especially like the procession in Rome and all of Roddy McDowell's scenes) and The Sandpiper, which I liked a lot at first but the last hour got slower and slower.

So are they all like this except Woolf? A parade of mediocre movies with a few good scenes? I think The V.I.P.s looks interesting, but The Comedians looks stupid.

They should have made a western or a horror movie.

Janet! Donkeys!
