Kim Novak

Kim Novak at the height of her fame in the 60's was in negotiations with her old studio Columbia to return to Columbia and star in this film for Marty Ransohoff whom Kim colloborated with on Boys Night Out at MGM. I recall a news story that Kim Novak had planned to have an extended stay in Europe after filming MGM's Of Human Bondage but flew back to finalize plans to star in The Sandpiper. Something went awry and Ransohoff took the picture to MGM and Liz Taylor. Have always felt this movie was better suited for Ms. Novak and her sexy glamoour would have been perfect for this film. Kim Novak moved on to Billy Wilder's Kiss Me Stupid at United Artists. Ransohoff and Ms Novak would reunite at MGM for the aborted Eye of the Devil where Kim Novak fell off a horse hurt her back and left that film

Interesting news. Where did you read this? Kim would have been great in this film.

I am a fan of Kim Novak's, but so am I of Liz Taylor. Yes, it would have been interesting to see Kim in this film, but I can't say it was worse because it went to Liz.

Thanks for mentioning that movie, Strangers when we meet, without going into detail about it. I had never heard of it before but now I'm looking forward to seeing it someday.

I agree. I enjoyed the version I saw with Elizabeth Taylor in it. I don't have anything against Kim Novak but I haven't really been a big fan. The movies I've seen her in haven't been my favorites and she always seems to have the same persona in each movie.
