Was the song released before the movie? I just saw a documentary about Sarah Vaughan that shows her singing a beautiful version in 1964, the year before the movie came out. Is the documentary mistaken or was "The Shadow of Your Smile" published (and recorded) in advance to drum up interest in "The Sandpiper?"

That song was so overdone or a derivative of it. it was extremely annoying.
