Terrific movie

Unfortunately there is nowhere to be found.
Schell is a perfect monster, Ingrid Thulin a spectacular willing victim and Samantha Eggar, well, you must see for yourself. Not on VHS or DVD, how is it possible?

I saw this movie twice: once in the 60's when it first came out and in the mid-80's late on a Saturday night on television. It is terrific, and that added with its cast, it is incomprehensible if it's never been put out on home video. And oh yes, I read the novel that it is adapted from; I believe it was a few years after I saw the movie when I ran across the novel in my college library (I forget the author). When I think of the dreck in Blockbuster in the Horror section and think that this flick is nowhere to be found, then I don't know what to think. Possibly it's being in black-and-white has something to do with it's being cast into the margins all these years, but whatever the case it's a real shame. Really, Polanski's "Repulsion" is not much better.

This is a very good movie and we are most fortunate that it is coming to TCM in October. Don't miss this one if you haven't seen it.

Another cancellation by TCM with no explanation. Bummer. :(

I also saw this film in 1965 on its initial release and thought it was the ultimate in a truly "cool" thriller. The entire cast, the photography and the story are suspenseful and intriguing, capturing your attention from the opening train sequence 'til the end. I'd looked for a copy of this well-remembered movie for years and am pleased to announce it's now out on DVD. When I acquired the release a year ago I lent it to a much younger friend who enjoyed it immensely. I'll just say in 2013 it's as great an entertainment as I found it to be in 1965. LOL

This film is finally out on Amazon Instant Video for rental or purchase.

Just seeing this for the first time in my life and the opening alone — the train scene followed by the phone call — makes clear this will be an exceptional experience.

Just finished watching. Great movie.

I don’t find anything implausible about it.

I’m surprised there isn’t more activity about it here.

It's next on TCM's salute of Samantha Eggar.

The more intelligent the level of viewer a film appeals to the less likely it is to be available on dvd or streaming.

I'd like to start a streaming service for all the gems and classics that are missing from Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, etc, but it probably wouldn't be profitable.

So true. Great idea!
