Which version was available in the UK?

I read that The Saragossa Manuscript was originally three hours long, but when it was first released in America it was a two and a half hour version, and when it was first released in Britain it was two hours.

I recently saw The Saragossa Manuscript at the Brighton Cinecity festival. It was advertised as being 177 minutes long, but the film ran for only about two and a half hours.

I wrote to the cinema about this, and they said there must have been a mistake in the programme, because the copy of the film they had was definitely the new print.

So was the recent rerelease of The Saragossa Manuscript in fact the medium length version, and is the longer version available?

The region 2 DVD runs 174 minutes. More or less three hours.

I saw the fully restored version yesterday at the BFI and it clocked in at 181 minutes.

Wow! Let us know if there's a DVD edition of it.

I just got the Restored Edition DVD version of Mr Bongo. Running time: 176 min. Nice transfer.

Mr. Bongo now re-released "The Saragossa Manuscript" on Blu-Ray. I bought the new version and I have to say I am really satisfied with the picture quality. They also re-released Wojciech Jerzy Has's second major fiilm "The Hourglass Senatorium", which I was also satisfied with.
