RASPUTIN THE MAD MONK IS A FINE FILM. CHRISTOPHER LEE GIES HIS GREATEST PERFORMANCE. IT IS A MUST SEE. SEE RASPUTIN OUT DINKING, OUT DANCING EVERYBODY. THEN HE CUTS SOME GUYS HAND OFF AND STEALS HIS WOMAN. THEN HE OES AND RULES RUSSIA OR SOMETHING. ALL BEFORE THE AGE OF EIGHT.

This film is great. I agree that this is one of Christopher Lee's best preformances!

It's a bit glossy and campy, but I really like it a lot - of course, no doubt about Christopher Lee's wonderful overacting. You can feel all the energy he put into this certain role all the time.

But it's pretty obvious that Hammer went too far with this regarding their financial backing - intended to be a costume epic, this looks more like another Dracula-Film. But still, pretty impressive how well - compared to their standard - - they transferred at least a nice bit of dark, "russian atmosphere" to the screen. Also love the score by Don Banks.

The score is pretty good, maybe one of the best hammer scores. It gets the feel of Russian music (something I am a fan of) quite well.

Christopher Lee really had the part! He gave a great performance.

I have to admit I wasn't looking forward to watching this Hammer film, but it was rather easy to enjoy and I was entertained.

Christopher Lee is nothing short of amazing in this. He event pronounced Rasputin's and others' names the way Russians pronounce them. I had a blast watching this. Rasputin is a fine superhero )

This is quite an enjoyable movie, no matter how historically inaccurate it may be.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

reply

Chris was really chewing the scenery in this one. That's not a bad thing, the real Rasputin was larger than life.
