Excellent Book on Pierrot le Fou

If you really love this film and want to deepen your understanding of it, I can recommend a Cambridge Film Handbooks study published a few years ago. Edited by David Willis and called simply Jean Luc-Godard's Pierrot le Fou, it contains five essays that examine the film from multiple perspectives (literary, color scheme, New Wave context, and so on). It's pricey and only 208 pages, but a few of the essays are eye-opening.

The tennis match at the opening of the film won't seem quite so random after reading this book.
