Blu Ray?

This is my favorite of the 3...any chance of a Blu Ray release?

reply

It's only available on Blu-Ray as a European import, which doesn't have any English audio or subs. No word on an English Language release yet, sadly.

I was watching this on telly last night and the picture was showing its age...very grainy.

Would a remastered film from this era have a crystal clear picture quality on Blu Ray?

The entire trilogy is listed to be released on Blu-Ray on 7th June in the UK, i already have Fistful Of Dollars from Italy and The Good, The Bad And The Ugly from the USA but i'll happily get this so i can have For A Few Dollars More in HD too, Italy did release this a couple of years ago but unfortunately it was only in Italian.

Yes it would look much better on Blu-ray than it does in standard definition. You have to remember that 35mm film actually has a higher resolution than Blu-ray. It will be grainier due to the film stocks of the time, but grain doesn't mean poor resolution.

It would be better if the Germans release it on Blu-ray as their restoration includes the longer beating up scene which is cut from every other version that i know of

In the US it will be released in the "Man With No Name Trilogy" box set on June the 1st.

For anyone reading this. Got the blu ray set. Picture is average, sound is decent. A few extras. (2 deleted scenes mentioned but never shown.)

This seems to be the original release as the violent scene is intact.

I picked up the blu-ray of Fistful of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More yesterday at Target. Judging from the picture, Fistful of Dollars is a movie that has suffered significant damage to the negative. This is a movie that was probably close to being lost when pulled for restoration. Thank God they made it in time, the restoration was done lovingly, and the movie looks about as good as it probably ever will look again (which ain't bad.....most of the flaws have been camouflaged.)

On the other hand, For A Few Dollars More does not suffer the same problems, and looks almost like a new film on blu-ray. Beautiful picture, color and flesh tones. Both discs sport well-balanced remixes into DTS-HD 5.1 surround. I'll tell you this.....I saw these as a double feature at a drive-in with my parents in the late '60's. That little speaker you pull in the window of the car didn't sound anything like this modern re-mix of the sound. Nope.....that little drive-in speaker doesn't hald a candle......
