The DVD is completely remastered by Warners, and the result is glorious. They eliminated the offensive pan-and-scan of the VHS edition, and kept most of the very widescreen Panavision image for a 1.66:1 aspect ratio.
True, it's only available in the PAL video standard but many DVD players make the NTSC conversion internally with no discernible flicker or stutter. Well worth the investment in a new player!
Learmedia, an arts-oriented DVD vendor in Canada has a few copies left for sale.
