that a German would write a series of tales about cowboys and Indians. Besides being absurd they must be inherintly accurate historically. Right.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

Finally, someone else who saw how ridiculous this movie is. The first three user comments must have been written by a foreigner and translated by someone with a 3rd grade education. And I had to wonder if we saw the same movie.

No wonder that sequels were never made. The movie is so stupid as to be bizarre. I imagine audiences left either in stitches at how stupid the movie was, or p*ssed off that they had wasted their money.

At least Italians created a whole new genre for westerns (spaghetti westerns). Good thing this movie didn't start the borscht western genre.

Come see a fat old man sometime!

"Borscht western genre"? More like sauerkraut western genre. This is a Western German movie, the leads are French and Italian, and the final scene is a showdown between two Hollywood actors.

Writers do write about places they've never been to. In the 19th century, it was common practice. The dreams were abundant then and the opportunities to travel were not.

If it wasn't for Europeans and their silly dreams about adventures in North America, there would've been no USA, no Canada and no Wild West.

There's plenty of movies that supposedly take place in a different country than they're filmed in. Don't get me started on The Princess Diaries 2 that are filmed in "Europe". Old Surehand is about the same level - it's a silly movie that entertains and doesn't aspire to be artistic or accurate.

I am a big fan of the Winnetou franchise, namely Winnetou 1, 2, 3, The treasure of the silver lake, Old Shattsrhand, and Winnetou and the Valley of Death.

I saw this movie for the first time, and can say with certainty for the last. Can say it's absurd and ridiculous. Nothing like the above.
