I have a copy from the TV that has the subtitles for just the spoken Japanese. The DVD make it way to hard to understand what is being said. I wounder if the company is going to fix this problem and issue replacements.

I guess the best way to get their attention about this is to go on the Warner Brothers website - www.warnervideo.com, and e-mail or leave them some feedback and tell them the situation regarding the subtitles. I've done just that.

You can turn on the Japanese subtitles with your DVD player, but that also adds subtitles for all the English dialogue as well.

Very annoying.

I saw this film in the theater in '65 and it had subtitles.
Every time - until today, Turner ran it with subtitles. What gives?
Fortunately I have a rudimentary understanding of Japanese which helps.

I'm watching this for the first time right now. It would've enhanced the viewing substantially if they'd supplied the subtitles.
Many of the Japanese conversation were quite animated and would have been interesting I'm betting.
Still - the film is enjoyable regardless.

As I mentioned, it used to have them intact - but no longer and I don't know why.

Glad to see I'm not the only one scratching my head.

I've just seen it on TV too, and there were no sub-titles for the Japanese language sections eg. the first 10 - 15 minutes of the film.

You just had to use your imagination.

"Still - the film is enjoyable regardless."
