Worst title song ever written

The lyrics to "The Night Caller" are the most ridiculous I've ever encountered anywhere. This song alone makes the movie a classic. To wit:

THE NIGHT CALLER IS A MYSTIFYING NAME
FOR A DANGEROUS, INTOXICATING GAME.

THE NIGHT CALLER MUST BE PLAYED WITH MANY SKILLS,
AND THE STAKES ARE MAD, FORBIDDEN, SECRET THRILLS.

SOMEWHERE FROM OUTER SPACE
MOVES A DARK SHADOW IN THE NIGHT.
DON'T EVER GET TOO CLOSE
TO THAT PHANTOM'S EVIL EYE.

THE NIGHT CALLER CASTS A HYPNOTIZING SPELL.
FOOLS THAT TRY TO FIGHT IT NEVER LIVE TO TELL.

All done like a pop ballad. Hilarious. Not to be missed.

Mercifully the original British version of the film doesn't have this song. It has an instrumental track called "Image". You can usually find a similar version of "Image" on youtube by Alan Haven.

I don't think it's actually the Alan Haven version, but a close copy of it. Agree that the British soundtrack knocks proverbial spots off the dreadful US theme song. "Image" continues to be used in the incidental music throughout the film, so you have to wonder why the American producers bothered to change the opening, especially as the American singer seems so inappropriate for an otherwise British film.

The music on the film is *not* Alan Haven, good as his recording is. neither is it the original by the Hank Levine Orchestra of the USA. (And its not the cracking version by the London All-Star either!)

The cover of 'Image' for the film is by Johnny Gregory, a British arranger who produced a *lot* of covers of popular music (Embassy records and the like, which British fans of a certain age will know all about) and general middle of the road stuff in the 50s-70s. I have done a lot of searching for a recording of Gregory's 'Image' but not found one yet.
